Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Cover Reviews Other products by Cuisinart Ratting 4.5 Out of 5.0 Special Offer Total New 14 Total Use 0
Endorsed by none other than the legendary French chef Paul Bocuse (the only restaurateur in the world to be awarded the prestigious Michelin 3 Stars for over 36 consecutive years), Cuisinart's Chef's Classic stainless cookware is high quality, yet affordable. Unlike many lines of cookware, this can go in the dishwasher for clean up, yet the aluminum core within the base provides even and efficient heating. Stainless steel not only looks great, it is also non-reactive with food, an important consideration for any cook. This small saucepan is ideal for sauces, boiling a couple of eggs, cooking vegetables and any number of other tasks.

"Excelllent replacement"2010-04-17 By Kenith E. Meissner (Pennsylvania) This saucepan is a good buy. The weight is very good and the heat seems to be evenly distributed. I also purchased the matching 8" fry pan and I enjoy using both of them. The price of the Cuisinart is about mid-level and a good value for the product.
"Could be better"2010-04-06 By Butch (Arizona) For some reason, this particular size pot in the set has a tendancy to flake the stainless on the bottom...Amazon replaced with not problem, but after 3 uses, wife noticed it is starting to do the same thing..keep an eye out for this ..otherwise it is a very convenient and mostly used size.....
"Good product"2010-03-06 By VVRAJU (Herndon,Va) Cookware arrived promptly. Saucepan and the lid look great out of the box. Online photos don't do justice. Good size for making a quick oatmeal. Cleanup is easy, stuff doesn't stick like it does in a cheap stainless steel pot. Lid gets a little hot. Overall recommend it.I bought it for 17$. Price seem to fluctuate between 17 and 20 so watch out for that.
"Simply divine :)"2010-02-21 By Dove Finally got rid of all the wickedly unhealthy non-stick stuff. Use this line pretty much exclusively now, and use these pots on a daily basis. And, being Cuisinart, they're wonderful, of course :) About the only downside, it is a bit difficult to clean around the rivets, but I still feel its worthy of 5 stars. They're sleek, shiny, high-quality, and they get the job done. Wonderfully simple design. Wouldn't wanna be without 'em. {I recommend using wooden spoons to avoid scratching any cookware.}
"Nice size pan, lower quality"2010-02-11 By LizE I have been gradually buying pans from this collection, and have wanted this size for a while. It's great for making pasta for a small number of people, and it's perfect for home-made soup. However this particular item is of lesser quality than the other ones I have. The metal is thinner, including the base, and the handle is not nearly as comfortable when the pan is full - the ridges dig into my hand. I'm happy I have it, but a little disappointed also.

"Love it!!!"2010-04-10 By Lori J. Berry (Salt Lake City, UT USA) I bought the Chicago Metallic Nonstick Petite Broil & Roast Pan to replace the one that came with the toaster/convection oven I have (which I love). But the pan and rack it came with, within just a few uses, had a gooey, sticky greasy covering that wouldn't come off, no matter what I used or how long I soaked it. I love Chicago Metallic. This pan and roaster is just the perfect size and no greasy build-up. Because the corners are so tight, there does get a little 'grease' in the corner, but it isn't much and I've figured out how to get it clean. Whenever I need to clean a small, tight space, I use a Q-tip and that's what I've done. Dip the Q-tip in a little dish soap, rub it in the corner, and it's gone!!! I love Chicago Metallic so much I bought the three-piece cookie sheet/jelly roll pan set as well as the 9 x 13 Broil & Roast Pan for my oven. Can't wait to try it out.
"A Quality Pan"2010-01-24 By Carl Robinson (London, Ky) [[ASIN:B00134LXB2 Chicago Metallic Nonstick Petite Broil & Roast Pan] A nice quality pan and just the right size for us two empty nesters. Makes excellent cornbread too. Carl Robinson
"Excellent pan & rack set"2010-01-21 By gnosnhoj (Hopkinsville, KY) Nice heavy-gauge pan & rack. Perfect fit for my toaster oven. L'il fella's gonna see a lot of use.
"It fits inside my small toaster/convection oven"2009-12-16 By T. Chan (CA, USA) Thanks to the previous reviewers, I also have a cuisinart toast/convection oven. It is so nice to know it fits and be able to use this in my toaster oven for one or two person and not need to use the big oven especially during the hot summer season. The original stainless steel tray is not strong enough and sometimes get crooked during cooking and one corner will turn up unexpectantly and end up with uneven cooking. This broil and roast pan is a lot stronger and do not have than problem. I use it to grill small fishes and yellow tail collar japanese style, cornish chicken and squab, the nonstick is easy to clean but I still use aluminum foil on the bottom to catch any drippings to prolong the use of the pan. It is also great to free up the big oven for bigger roasts when we have guests coming over. I have 2 chicago metallic commercial sheet pan and bread pan and their quality is unbeatable even with non stick. I am very happy with this purchase. What I need next is a small pizza stone for my toaster/convection oven.
"perfect"2009-12-05 By xfooey (Brooklyn, NY) i needed a small roasting pan to make a couple of burgers or chops of petite fillets without the hassle of some humongous pan which requires way more scrubbing.
this nifty little roasting pan fills the bill. it's perfect !
foil the pan, stick in the rack; the only wash up is the rack.

"Awesome"2010-03-10 By D. Selim (Muskegon, MI United States) We purchased this "chili pot" from Amazon after searching locally for something comparable without success. It it a great pot, does what it is designed to do and does it well. Typical Calphalon quality, which is excellent.
"Love It"2010-02-22 By T. Dawson (Illinois) I love this pan, nothing sticks, you can see through the glass lid, and you can move it around without needing to find your hot pad. The only way to make it better for me, is to make it dishwasher safe, but I'm following the directions and hand washing.
"Very heavy duty"2010-02-07 By David Riebau (Norton, Ohio United States) My wife cooks everything at 4,000 degrees, so we needed something that could hold up to her cooking. We tried to buy similar to the space shuttle but this is the second best. I'm sure she can eventually destroy this, but she will have to work at it. Good product and we received it fast and as promised. We have used it for 3 weeks now and it has still held it's shape. Very unusual and we are very pleased.
"Simply Calphalon Nonstick 5 Quart Chili Pot"2009-12-19 By Bethan Clayton (Louisiana) This was purchased as a Christmas present. I know that the Calphalon products to be a high quality and I thought the price as reasonable.
"A good buy"2009-12-02 By J. Patterson (MOUNT JULIET, TN, US) This is a good soup/stew pot. It is exactly like it was described. I had one and wanted another for a gift. I am very pleased. A good buy for the money

"Absolutely no regrets"2010-04-07 By B. Pierce (Chicago, IL USA) This pot holder is excellent. It's large enough for anything you want to hang from it, or place on top of it. It's VERY sturdy, not at all flimsy like I was kind of expecting for the price. They include plenty of hanging hooks, but you can always buy more. It's also very attractive - looks great in a modern, industrial-type kitchen, but can be decorated easily enough to suit other decors. I always get compliments on it whenever people come to visit. I love that I can hang my cookware to dry, instead of using a towel and then stowing it away. Also, if you have a lovely set of cookware, as I am fortunate to have, it is really nice to put them on display. I didn't realize the weight limit was 40lbs -- I definitely have much more than that on it and it's holding up completely fine. Definitely recommend.
"Worth the price"2010-01-13 By Jerry (North Carolina, USA) Item is perfect for hanging an entire set of cookware and utensils. Study and comes with all hardware to mount on studs or helper boards. Additional drywall anchors are not included for mounting to drywall ceiling. I mounted mine to helper boards which were mounted directly to ceiling studs. Looks great and really enhances our island area. Installation took about 2 hours with two people.
"Excellent Look, Quality and Value For The Money!!"2009-12-28 By Robert C. Belden (Land O'Lakes, FL) After spending a lot of time looking both online and in stores, I decided on this pot rack. After looking at and comparing the various aspects of several racks, this Innova model offered by Amazon made the most sense and was clearly the best buy for the money; all things considered. Simply put, there were units costing well over $100 or more, that really didn't offer much more (if anything) for the higher cost - some were even over $200+ !! And at just under 40 clams and super-fast, 3-day free shipping, I couldn't be more happy with my choice and the Ama-Zoney purchase experience. The rack is both well-built and spacious at 34" X 17". The finish is a smooth, satin black and the center grill is bright and shiny metal - which looks nice together. The hardware kit provides a generous 12 hooks to hang the cookware and 4 chains and ceiling hooks to allow for a stable, "rock-free/won't tip" installation - real important, as some units with 2 hooks & chains can easily tip if the weight of the hanging cookware is not closely balanced and even on both sides. This can easily happen if you needed to use 2 pieces of cookware that happened to be on the same side of the rack, leaving the opposite side considerably more heavy and the whole mess could tip over; dropping your nice cookware on the floor or somebody's unsuspecting head! So, be sure and use ALL 4 hooks and do it right!! Also, it is important to try and screw the ceiling hooks directly into the wood ceiling joists (beams) if possible, especially if you plan on loading this bad boy up with heavy cookware, like I did. If you're not going to, than just use the proper toggle bolts and you should be fine, but as always, mounting the hooks to the joists is clearly the most secure way to fasten anything that has to support weight. Also, try and mount the hooks, close to the same dimensions that are on the 4 holes in the rack - this also allows for both a "plumb" and more stable rack. I think the rack also looks nicer, when the chains hang plumb (completely vertical), as opposed to being "angled". On my particular installation, I was replacing an existing pot rack and there were already 4 holes in the ceiling that were screwed into the ceiling joists. So, to keep the install solid, I simply slid the 4 hooks/chains more towards the outside corners of the new rack to keep it as plumb and stable as possible, without the need to re-drill any new holes. I also added 4 lighting canopies from Home Depot ($5 each) to improve the kind of crude, unfinished look that black hooks alone offer. This allows for a smoother and more attractive transition from the chains to the ceiling - a real nice finishing touch that makes the unit look more elegant and expensive. I also spent the whopping 97 cents at Wal-Mart and spray-painted both the canopies and the chains a very similar black finish for a more consistent and matching appearance (see my photos). I added a tulip light kit to the pot rack to further enhance it's appearance and brighten up my stove and counter areas. (You can also add a black clip on, flexible light that I saw at Home Depot for about $9). I am totally pleased with the finished look I got for the money; after adding only a few inexpensive and easy personal tweaks of my own. This rack offers a great value for the money that most people would be completely pleased with. If you're more of the "style-over-substance" type, than you'll likely have to spend 4X-6X the coin to satisfy your taste. For me, this rack has both great functionality and looks more than good enough for the money. Enjoy life!
"worth the money"2009-12-26 By Melvin L. Fulcher (St Joseph, MO) I looked at many pot racks and all seemed way over priced.
This is a fairly simple appliance. I could see no reason for the high prices. The price for this one is reasonable.
"Easy to install but you'll need a stud finder and power drill"2009-10-15 By A. Benjamin All the glowing reviews are correct. This product is beautiful, sturdy and inexpensive. It looks wonderful over the kitchen sink (a picture of ours is in the gallery) and makes clean up a breeze. I don't even have to move from the sink when washing pots and pans. just wash, quick wipe with a paper towel, and hang up to dry. Best of all we no longer have an avalanche of pans crashing out of the cabinets when looking for a particular item.
I installed this all by myself (without my husband's help) using a stud finder to find the beams over the sink. I stood on the sink and held the inner wire frame up to the ceiling to mark off the exact spots where the screws would go. Then, I drilled four small holes and screwed the hooks in by hand (and pliers to tighten up) and that was it! took about twenty minutes from start to finish.
Five stars for this product. My husband (the cook) is very happy :)

"Perfect for smoked flavor without the hassle."2010-03-29 By Mark Cabral (Anacortes, Wa USA) We bought this at the suggestion of a friend and couldn't be happier. Our first meal was salmon and it tasted better than barb-b-q grilled, which is how we usually prepare our fish. The set-up was almost too simple and the taste was great. Highly recommend this product if you like smoked flavor.
"Great item"2010-03-03 By Rjsteenson I purchased this stovetop cooker after watching Emerill live on TV! He was smoking a beef brisket, and I had been only on occasion using a large bulky outdoor smoker. After receiving the smoker from Amazon, and using it on 4 occasions, I find that it does a great job, without any smoke in the kitchen, and cooks the items I have tried in a very short time. If I have a complaint, it is the fact that the stainless steel used becomes terribly discolored and is just about impossible to completely remove the discoloring! However since this discoloring does not do any harm to the smoker, and the smoker works so well, I accept the one problem, and continue to use it for all kinds of food, meats, vegetables, etc. It comes with a small Cameron recipe pamphlet! Well worth the cost if you like smoke flavored foods.
"Gets the job done!!!"2010-03-03 By Raymond E. Williams The key to getting the most from this product is to go above what the instructions call for. For instance, if the instructions call for 1 1/2 tablespoons of wood chips, put in 3-4. That will give you the smoky flavor that you are looking for. Also, if the instructions call for medium heat on your stove, go slightly above that (for example, medium setting is 5 set it to 6 or 7. That will not only insure good smoked flavor but it will also cook the food thoroughly and give you the color you are looking for. Be aware that stoves are different and my stove is electric so gas stoves may do the trick if set at medium heat. And finally you may want to extend your cooking time as well 10 minutes or so beyond what instructions call for to get the smoke flavor and tenderness you are looking for. For salmon I usually cook it 45-60 minutes. Hope this helps someone who might be on the verge of throwing their smoker away. :)
"How do you get all the men at a party to hover around the stove?"2010-03-03 By Kerry Smith (Baltimore, MD) I bought this for my boyfriend, who fishes in Alaska and comes home with piles of salmon every year. His male family in South America all have similar portable smokers and when we were down there for the holidays I noticed how the men loved to gather around the smoker with drinks, adjusting their belts and acting manly. He talked about how tasty the fish was nonstop, so when his birthday came up I found this little number and decided to try it.
We invited some friends over for the christening, and we put the little pile of tasty smelling sawdust inside, threw a salmon on top, put on the lid and stared skeptically. After some group discussion and a couple of fire drill jokes we went for it. We were all pleasantly surprised. 20 minutes later, we had a beautiful, moist, "tastes like slow cooked" falling apart salmon that no one could get enough of and everyone wanted to know more about. A slight smell of smoke lingers in the kitchen, but no worse than if you were to cook smoked bacon or any other meat. It didn't create billows of smoke and require evacuation the way some reviewers have said, so I don't know what they did differently. Perhaps our guys opened it on the back porch. I will never know, because the smoker became the urban man equivalent of the fire pit and for what was quite possibly the first time ever, all the men at the party stood gathered around the stove while the women were crowded out of the kitchen and forced just to lounge on the couch with drinks. If they had a 6th star I would nominate it on those grounds alone. Since that night I've gotten multiple emails from the wives of the men at the party requesting the link. Whether it's because the men want it, or the women admire the magical kitchen luring powers I can't say but it seems like everyone else is getting one now.
Smoking purists will turn up their nose. Yes, the sawdust thing seems a little weird. No, you are not adhering to the strictest standards and would probably be laughed at by an serious smokers (or anyone in Texas) but for those of us who weren't going to go all in anyway I think this is a great solution. Great for the urban warrior (seriously, you can about see the chest hair growing while they cook) and pleasing in result. Smoked ribs at home? check.
I bought a sampler pack of the different wood "chips" (which are sawdust, but get the job done) to go with and we've had a few fun nights experimenting so far.
"Works as advertised"2010-02-21 By Aubrey (S. Florida) This smoker does exactly as promised. I have used it on ribs, chicken and fish. All smoked to perfection. If a denser smoke is preferred just add more wood. Smoke and then bake as needed. It is the real deal.

"Eat beans for you and the world!"2010-04-25 By C. Schreyer (Costa Mesa, CA USA) I've never used a pressure cooker before, but kept reading tempting recipes, so I bought this one (recommended by Cook's Illustrated). It seemed too big, but then I realized when you pressure cook, you only fill the pot half full, so it's perfect for cooking for our family of five. I love it!! We've had minestrone, hummus, potato salad, black beans, madras-style chickpeas, potato-leek soup... all cooked in less than a half hour. We're trying to eat less meat for environmental, financial, and health reasons, and this pot is the key to a quick bean-based dinner. It's very sturdy and easy to clean. The depth is nice when I'm sauteing (like onion) before pressure cooking. The basket is used for cooking things above the liquid. Two small negatives: 1) the basket handle can pull off if you yank it too fast when it's full, 2) the little wire thing used to keep the basket out of the water is a little tippy - they should make it wider. This is a nice pot, though; the aluminum (sealed in by stainless) in the bottom makes it saute beautifully. And the rubber seal+ locking system seems very efficient and safe.
"Great pressure cooker once you learn its "trick""2010-03-18 By H. Mia (Kailua Kona, HI USA) I'm a novice cook so let me admit that first. The trick I refer to is how I need to use the slider switch on the handle that "locks" the pressure cooker. I don't know if it's just this particular cooker I received or whether others with this model have had the same issue. I have noticed that when I slide the switch toward the pot to lock the cover, I have to give it an extra push to REALLY lock it once the popup pops up indicating full pressure. If I don't do that, the cooker continues to emit steam from around the handle and when I go to lower the burner to medium low, the popup drops back down and the cooker fails to maintain pressure. There is no reason to think that the slider is not in its fully locked position initially. But only when I give it another push after the popup pops up does the cooker cover appear to be locked.
Just wanted others to be aware of this potential issue. I was on the verge of returning it when I discovered I had to do this to get it to work reliably. Now that I know this, I'm very happy with the pressure cooker.
UPDATE: I see that other reviewers have had the same issue with this pressure cooker not maintaining pressure or failing to reach proper pressure. Since discovering what it takes to make mine work--and it has worked consistently since--I have not had a problem. I recommend to those who have had this issue to try this "fix."
"Is the metal in the pressure relief valve safe? What's this black stuff?"2010-02-22 By Richard E. Crawford After using the pressure cooker to cook the following foods:
Rice (1 cup) Garbanzo Beans (3 cup) More Rice (2 cup) Black Beans (1 cup w/ onions, peppers, salt)
I didn't notice it until after the black beans tonight (which came out fabulous by the way). On the inside of the lid there is the safety pressure release valve and next to it is the pressure regulator. The regulator now has this filthy black dirt/dust on it. It is the ONLY part of the lid or pot that has this stuff on it, indicating to me that this part must be some other type or metal such that this stuff doesn't adhere to the rest of the pot. It comes off readily on my finger and most closely resembles a graphite-like substance based on my experience.
I can't imagine why if this black dirt is from the black beans why does it only fiercly adhere to the pressure regulator and not to any other component? Or is there some defective regulators out there putting bad stuff out of the metal ???!!?! I just took the handle apart to check it out further. It is a very simple device and the regular and everything else appears clean everywhere else.
I fully realize that this could end up being from what I was cooking, but I am posting this more as a question just to be safe here. I am having a hard time finding a contact number on Fagor's website, I will try to find one to call them tomorrow.
"I can't get things to NOT burn in this"2010-02-12 By N. Ferguson (Ogden, UT USA) Everything I make burns in this pot. I had an electric pressure cooker before that died after I had it for a few years. It worked beautifully. It took a little longer to pressurize than the stove-top Fagor Duo, but nothing burned in it. My Fagor, on the other hand, burns everything! The only thing that doesn't burn is water. Occasionally I like to cook food in something besides water, but if I want to do that I have to use my oven and do it the old fashioned way. Very frustrating! I do not cook it on too high of a temperature. I keep it barely pressurized during the cooking time and things still burn. If any of you have recommendations on this, I'd appreciate it. I think, in the meantime, I'll re-purchase my old electric cooker.
"8 Quart PC and Lorna Sass' Cookbook - A great start..."2010-01-13 By Ann Matney (Bozeman, MT) I have only done a few recipes thus far. All have come out nicely... Using Lorna Sass' book as a guide I can feel safe in my early PC ventures and have excellent (scientific even) assistance on how to operate my PC and be successful with various recipes. The 8 qt. is quite big, but I think it's a good way to start so you can do roasts, etc. Later I may invest in a smaller one. No wonder the Italians love the PC!
