The Egg Genie works exactly as advertised for boiled eggs--it's incredibly easy with no watching for water to boil or figuring out how long to leave the eggs on the stove.
The first couple times I used it the eggs had a little bit of the grey film around the yolk, but adding just a tiny bit more water appears to solve the problem (fill the cup about halfway between the lines for 6 and 7 eggs if you're boiling 7 eggs). The eggs yolks come out a perfect yellow and the shells always peel off easily. I enjoy boiled eggs much more often than I used to because it's now so effortless.
I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because you have to stay near the device and listen for its buzzer (which isn't very loud) to know when to turn it off. Why doesn't it just shut itself off like a toaster would??

Poached eggs are my favorite type, but this is not the best way to get them. Tried to adjust cooking time by adding or subtracting water, but it doesn't help much. Non-stick spray does not help the eggs to be released, either.

It really does work! I have found this gadget great to do hard boiled eggs for salads etc. It does not do a good job of poaching however. It is simple and easy to use and the price is right.

It has been difficult for me to make boiled eggs by this cooker. I recommend looking for different type of egg cooker.

Bought this as a gift for my husband who likes soft boiled eggs and poached eggs. He fixes his own eggs now and he says they're perfect every time. (Spray the tray for poached eggs with non-stick spray for easier washing.) I've used it for hard boiled eggs. It takes the guess work out of how long to cook them. I really like it.
Cons: One more gadget to take up space on the cabinet.
