Amazon.com Review

This cookware set is an exceptional value, including all of the pans needed to equip your kitchen with the most used cooking pieces. As the set contains only basic pieces, you'll really use each and every pan. It includes saucepans for whisking a homemade sauce or cooking your morning oatmeal, a big stockpot for soups, stews or boiling pasta, and skillets (probably the most used pan in any kitchen) that will help you turn out perfect crepes or a simple grilled cheese sandwich. The set also includes a sauté pan, a wide, straight-sided pan that can perform many of the functions of a skillet but features deep sides for extra capacity, perfect for one dish meals. Start your dish in this pan by sautéing onions and browning meat, then add your liquid and other ingredients into the same pan to finish on the stovetop or in the oven.
From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.

An excellent value, this 10-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The larger 6-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

"Happy with purchase" 2010-04-29
By T. Rogers (Arab,AL)
After using the same cookware for 20+ years I decided it was time to replace it.I did alot of research on amazon.com and other sites and although there were many sets to choose from the KitchenAid Gourmet 10pc caught my eye because it was one of the few sets that included the 1,2,and 3 quart covered saucepans.Which in my opinion is more important than the skillets.I haven't had this set long, but I already know that I made the right choice.

I love my kitchenaid cookware. It cooks evenly without burning the food. The pans, especially the fry pans clean on the outside as easily as the inside. I would recommend this product to any cook but especially to those of us that cook every night and don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning up.

Amazon.com Review

The unique oval shape of this Pasta, Etc. pot means no more breaking long pastas, and the convenient pour spout makes draining liquids from the pot easy.
A creation of television celeb chef Rachael Ray, this oval pasta pot takes a new approach to shaping that feels long overdue. Sized to hold 8 quarts, the deep oval pot is space-efficient on the stovetop, while letting you cook spaghetti or linguine without breaking the noodles. Hard-anodized aluminum for durability, the pan heats evenly and quickly, which is great for boiling a big quantity of water. A glass lid contains heat and steam while allowing visibility, and a nonstick interior makes food release and low-fat cooking easier. Surprisingly comfortable to handle, the pot features fun orange handles with silicone coating for heat resistance and a secure grip. Ideal for pasta, the pot is also great for soups and corn on the cob. It is safe in the oven to 400 degrees F, cleans up easily by hand, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. --Emily Bedard

"My Daughters Birthday Gift" 2010-04-18

My daughter did like the Pasta Pot, however, she thought for the money it should have been more versatile, ie. able to bake with it in the oven. She has a family of 5. Would she purchase it again probably not! Purchased at Amazon.

"Finally--a pot that fits the pasta!!" 2010-03-10
By S. Siwirski (Garden Grove, CA USA)
Originally, I saw this pot on Rachel Ray's show in the morning--and thought, what a great idea--no more breaking pasta or pushing it in at an angle. When it went on sale, I had to have it!

I love this pot..it's sturdy. It's bigger than a typical dutch oven so it's also great for a big pot of soup, or spaghetti..but I love love love that pasta fits in it. It's so easy and convenient.

The non-stick coating is a bonus. The handles are great since they don't get hot. The glass lid lets you watch what's cooking. There's just no downside to this pot, it's fabulous.

"Smart Idea" 2009-09-20
By Grandma Jill (Sunny Florida)
In the past cooking pasta has always been a problem, having to wait until the pasta is soft enough to get the other side in the pot and making sure that the pasta was cooked evenly. With this pot, it all goes in at the same time-no more watched pot-really smart idea and I have found so many additional uses for it-this is now my favorite pot.

"A big hit, but LOUD and NOISY!" 2010-04-25
By E. Blondefield (San Jose, CA)
I checked out all the at-home chocolate fountain reviews, and, along with the prices, decided this would be the best. I was very concerned about the quietness of the machine, and the reviews seemed to indicate this was very quiet. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. I used the Wilton chocolate fountain chocolate, because I didn't want to add oil, and it worked, and tasted, fantastic! No problems with getting a smooth flow. Clean up was messy, but I expected that. Not sure how people claimed "it only took five minutes" or "clean up was a breeze" when you're dealing with multiple parts and thin melted chocolate, but oh-well. I would be very happy if not for the loud motor noise. I'm planning on calling the company to see what they say.

"Didn't work when it needed to,PIA to clean!" 2010-04-07
By Kelley D. Highsmith
I didnt try it out before the party...BIG MISTAKE!The day of the party came did all the instructions told me to do to a tee and whatever it was that was supposed to make the chocolate "fountain" did not work so in a few words we had a pot of lukewarm chocolate for everyone to "dip" all of their favorites in rather than the beauty of a flowing stream of chocolate. We have enough chocolate to "try" another run but imo it is "too little too late", does not excuse the fact that when it needed to work it didnt! Dont waste your time! If that wasnt bad enough it was a bear (using the nicest word possible) to clean! Took forever! Very bad taste left in my mouth of this disaster!

"only weakness is the motor" 2010-03-16

works great as long as you add enough oil to the chocolate to keep it smooth. Otherwise the motor will seize and fail to pump the chocolate to the top-tier

"Wilton Chocolate Pro Fountain, simply the best!" 2010-03-04
By Sylvia Caluris (Chicago, IL)
We purchased this machine for our daughter's Sweet 16 party. We were hesitant to have a chocolate fountain because a friend of ours had purchased one, a different model & brand, and ended up throwing it away, it was a disaster. After checking out rentals, it seemed cheaper and more practical to purchase our own. After reading the reviews about the Wilton Pro, we purchased the fountain. It was so easy to use! We followed the manufacturers directions and used the Wilton brand of chocolate which required NO vegetable oil. The chocolate melted easily in the microwave and required 2 bags since it holds up to 4 pounds. It ran smoothly and quietly for hours. It was a big hit at the party and we received so many compliments. Friends and family all want our chocolate fountain too! This machine is amazing and was easy to maintain, including washing of the unit. We honestly cannot wait to use it again, it is simply the best!

"Wilton Chocolate Fountain Pro" 2010-02-13
By Amy Y. (FREMONT, CA USA)
I was very worried after reading all the reviews on every Chocolate Fountain out there. The ones that had decent reviews seemed awfully pricey for a kitchen item that, honestly, is less functional and more novelty. The less expensive ones had widely variable ratings.

I decided to take a chance and order the Wilton Pro, despite some of the negative ratings. The base is fairly hefty and the bottom bowl is solid and attached to the base. It is lined with metal and when on 'Preheat' mode, heats up without turning the auger and circulating the chocolate. The three tiers over which the chocolate cascades are made of heavy-duty plastic and locks together but comes apart for cleaning.

You can pretty much dissemble the three tiers and the auger that runs up the middle, and after any big chunks of chocolate have been removed, soak in hot water or put in the dishwasher and the cleanup is exceptionally easy. The most difficult part of the fountain to clean is the base. I poured out any excess chocolate(do NOT pour down the drain as it can harden in the pipes and cause blockages) and then mopped the base up clean with a sponge. I used the sprayer on my kitchen faucet with the bowl angled to let the water run down into the sink the entirely rinse it clean without getting the base wet where the motor is housed. Clean up took all of 5 minutes.

I took this to my daughter's first grade class for their Valentine party. It was a *huge* hit. I used two bags of Wilton's chocolate but the instructions give recipes to use Wilton Candy Melts(the colored kind), white chocolate or regular chocolate(chips, bars, etc,). All need to have a various amount of oil added to get the proper consistency. The Wilton Fondue Chocolate(purchased here on Amazon or at Michael's- half off with a coupon!) was very, very runny.

The fountain worked well with the two bags and only at the very end after 20 first graders and a bunch of parent volunteers had gone through twice and used up most of thew chocolate did the fountain stop fully cascading- it still ran fine, just didn't have the cascade effect all the way around continuously.

We had a ton of fun with it. We made up all sorts of stuff for the kids to dip- sliced bananas, apple chunks, pretzels, pound cake, marshmallows, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, gummi bears, gum drops, shortbread cookies, shredded wheat biscuits, and even potato chips. Everyone loved it. We used wooden skewers, maybe 12" long, plus toothpicks, plus shorter skewers(4"). Some kids made kebabs with the larger skewer and some dipped individual items with toothpicks or the smaller skewers. I set out mini muffin cups filled with nuts and raisins that the kids could dip into the leftover chocolate on their plates.

Set up was simple. The most important thing- whatever chocolate you use, melt it thoroughly before use and not just to soft-and-pasty, no, you want it to be liquid. The fountain isn't designed so much to melt the chocolate though you couple probably pour it into the base on preheat and let it sit and melt for a while- [probably a long while. It's definitely made to maintain the chocolate in a melted form rather than to actually melt it. Easiest way to melt the chocolate is to put it in a heavy duty gallon ziploc bag- leave a corner open and pop it into the microwave. Take it out every 30 seconds for 2-3 minutes and knead it. This will keep it form burning and help improve the consistency by distributing the heat.

I had absolutely no problems with the fountain. It is a pleaser for both kids and adults alike. I have a bunch of people who have asked me if they could borrow it for a party. I think we'll be using ours fairly often even at home. We have a Le Creuset fondue set and love to do fondue but it is a pain to clean-up between the cheese/oil main course and then do chocolate for dessert in it. Now we can just use the fountain!

Fun- and worth every penny for all the fun the kids had with it! I'd buy this all over again and recommend it to others.

"Great product for a first timer" 2010-04-19
By FTL&L - PSWii / JohnGalt11 (Earth)
As the receipient of a BGE in February, I have upped my BBQ'ing greatly, so I thought it was time to try pulled pork for the first time ever. The results were spectacular, and this item is partly responsible. With the meat just falling apart (sufficiently rested for over an hour as is normal for any large piece of BBQ like this), I was able to easily pull the entire 9 pounds apart in less than 5 minutes, with no melting or other visible damage to the paws.

Looking forward to using these all summer long

"Bear Claws Are A Real Timesaver!" 2010-03-30
By Dan Elmore (Arizona)
First off, we LOVE to BBQ. There's something truly magical about smoking a pork butt roast and pulling that delicious, moist, deeply hickory smoked piece of meat out of the smoker piping hot. It's so hard to wait for the meat to stand, almost beckoning to be immediately pulled and eaten. The rich smell fills the entire house with its aromatic flavor. Once cooled down some, a properly cooked bone-in butt will nearly fall apart. The bone just slips out effortlessly. That's when the Bear Claws come in handy. They make a really short time out of a pork pulling job and they're WAY faster than using a fork. Especially when the meat is still pretty darn hot the Bear Claws really protect your hands from burning while pulling the meat apart. They are super simple and fast to use and I highly recommend purchasing them if you need an inexpensive but superior meat shredding tool.

These work better than I expected. Product is made from plastic, but I've not had issues with them melting as another reviewer described. And I've not had problems cleaning them either.

I've smoked pork butts twice since since receiving these and spent maybe 15 minutes total pulling.

I HIGHLY recommend this product !!

Amazon.com Review

Endorsed by none other than the legendary French chef Paul Bocuse (the only restaurateur in the world to be awarded the prestigious Michelin 3 Stars for over 36 consecutive years), Cuisinart's Chef's Classic stainless cookware is high quality, yet affordable. Unlike many lines of cookware, it can go in the dishwasher for clean up, yet the aluminum core within the base provides even and efficient heating. If you've been thinking of investing in a new set of pots and pans, you'd do well to consider Cuisinart Chef's Classic. This small set offers a number of useful pieces for boiling, frying and simmering, along with the added value of set pricing.
Cooks shopping for midweight stainless-steel cookware at a mid-range price may well have found their match with this cookware set from Cuisinart. The set comes equipped to handle the most common cooking tasks and includes an 8-quart covered stockpot, a 3-quart covered saucepan, a 1-1/2-quart covered saucepan, and a 10-inch skillet.

As part of Cuisinart's Chef's Classic line of cookware, all pieces are made of 18/10 stainless steel that has been polished to a brilliant mirror finish and that won't react to acidic foods. An inner core of aluminum ensures that foods heat quickly and evenly. The stainless-steel handles on this cookware stay cool on the stovetop and the matching 18/10 mirror-polished stainless-steel lids have dripless rims. All cookware in Cuisinart's Chef's Classic line is oven-safe up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

"Great product" 2010-04-26
By LindsayN (New York USA)
I grew up with Cuisinart pots and pans, so when it came time to purchase my own, I knew what I wanted. I always hesitate to use anything aluminum... you never really know if those leeching chemical reports are true or not. I decided to go with the stainless steel and I am glad I did. Last night, I cooked fish for fish tacos in the skillet and clean up was actually quite easy. I didn't have an issue with the food sticking, just make sure you use oil and let it heat up before you put the food in.

I highly recommend this set. Every pot is a good size, cleans easily, and looks great.

"Best $75 I've Ever Spent" 2010-04-24
By Preserved Killick
I bought this set when my Kirkland anodized aluminum cookware set was too scratched and falling apart to use. This set is awesome! It looks great, but it cooks even better. More amazing is how easily it cleans up. Food has almost always rinsed right out, and the few times I've managed to get something to stick, it cleaned right up with some baking soda and a sponge. BTW, I wouldn't use anything stronger than baking soda on these; it works like a charm without the slightest scratching. It's also good for restoring the shine, both inside and out, after repeated uses.

I like to toss food when I sauté, and the skillet for this set does it better than any pan I've used, even in my culinary classes. All of the pans are lightweight and easy to handle, and pour really well.

The set is also sized similarly to my last set, so my steamer inserts (which this set doesn't come with) from my old set fit the new set perfectly.

These pans have given me no trouble at all, but I am careful to make sure the flame from the burner never comes up the side of the pan; something that's true of all pans. To those reviewers who've had trouble with sticking, watch your flame. Since these pans conduct heat so quickly, you can't get away with flames coming up the sides the way you would with another pan.

Amazon.com Review

This VillaWare crepe maker bakes versatile, paper thin, 7" crepes. Die cast aluminum hot plate for even heating. Xylan non stick coating, ready light and automatic thermostat. Cool touch handle. Dipping plate included.
Quicker and easier to use than a skillet, this 900-watt electric appliance simplifies the cooking of crepes and blintzes, making it foolproof. The 7-1/2-inch-diameter cooking surface is coated with nonstick material and is slightly convex. Dipping it into crepe batter coats it uniformly. Inverting the appliance and setting it on a counter (or dining table, for festive occasions) allows the crepe to cook, while the rubber feet protect the counter. The user then simply peels off the crepe. An automatic thermostat heats the cooking surface to the proper temperature, and a light signals when it's time to cook. The crepe maker, which features a stay-cool plastic handle, is accompanied by a plastic dishwasher-safe dipping plate to hold the batter. The crepe maker's instruction booklet contains recipes for various crepes and for blintzes. --Fred Brack

"Crepes!" 2010-02-25
By Lazy Mermaid (The City of Destiny)
I have always loved crepes and when my friend made me some crepes on her VillaWare crepe maker I just had to get one. I really love the style of this maker because it's a lot easier for someone like me (amateur cook) to make consistent crepes with rather than with the crepe makers where you pour the batter on. Also, as I am currently living in a dorm room, it's super easy to store and use with my limited space. Admittedly I haven't had it very long so I can't comment on the durability of this product, nor can I compare it to other brands as this is the first I've ever owned, but overall I'd say if you want to make crepes and have super spectacular crepe parties with all your friends, then go for it!

Amazon.com Review

From the comfortably arched handles to the stylish flared silhouettes, the Calphalon Contemporary line is designed to please. Looks aren't everything however, and this cookware line is not simply another pretty face! No indeed, this collection is constructed of heavy gauge aluminum, reknowned for its fast and even heating, and it's lined with durable non-stick for easy clean up and low fat cooking. Lids are of tempered glass to allow visual monitoring of the cooking process. This sauce pan is a good choice for making puddings, heating hot fudge or dips or for cooking veggies. Additionally the low and wide profile combine to facilitate evaporation, an essential aspect of reduction sauces.
Perfect for reducing sauces or cooking vegetables on the stovetop and for braising meat in the oven, this shallow, 2-1/2-quart saucepan is coated with nonstick inside to release food readily and clean easily. The nonstick is durable enough to go safely into the oven at temperatures up to 450 degrees F. Made of heavy-gauge aluminum with a matte finish, the pan conducts heat uniformly and quickly. Because the aluminum is anodized it's harder than steel and the pan won't scratch, chip, or crack. The oval, brushed stainless-steel handle stays cool on the stovetop and has a hanging hole for the pan to be stored on hook or peg. The domed glass lid collects and returns moisture to food and permits monitoring of cooking without reducing the temperature inside the pan. Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects.

LOVE this saucepan. It was recommended in Cooks Illustrated and I also highly recommend it. Nothing sticks to it! The lid is glass, so you can observe whatever you're cooking. The handle is sturdy. I like the curved lip of the saucean itself for pouring sauces out with no problems or runs down the outside of the pot. It's the perfect size pot for everyday use.

I love this saucepan! It's slight curvature toward the top gives it a little something different aesthetically. It heats evenly and cooks everything perfectly each time. It's a great size and holds more that you would believe it could. It is very versatile and I don't just use it for sauces- pastas, browning ground beef, cooking chicken...it does it all! I love the glass lid that allows me to check on what I'm cooking without having to lift the lid and loose all the heat inside. It cleans up easily and the nonstick coating works perfectly. My mom loved it so much that I bought one for her on her birthday- she was so excited! I highly recommend this product.

"Great pan!" 2010-04-03

This is a terrific pan--- nonstick is very good, easy to clean, looks good, comes with see-through lid-! I have had it for 1-2 years and the nonstick is still 100% in effect.

I use it for pasta, scrambled eggs, making sauces, heating soups, sauteing, and even browning meats.

I can't think of one thing that I do not like about this pan (besides I own only 1!).

"This is a great saucepan" 2010-03-27
By Sadie (Ohio)
I bought this saucepan with a little trepidation because it looks a little like a cross between a saucepan and a frying pan but now that I own it I am sold. It works much better for making anything that needs a little sauteing first because the shape allows more of the contents to be in contact with the bottom. And at a gentle heat, the contents of the pan heat up more quickly for the same reason. As with the other calphalon products I have, nothing sticks and it heats very evenly on my gas stove. The handle does not get hot even though it is metal and the lid is great because you can see through it to see if your contents simmering gently. I have only had this about two months, so can't comment on how well the coating will last, but so far I am very happy with this pan. I wish they made a smaller version.
