Cooks lighter meals, healthier, fast and easy. 3 to 10 times faster than ordinary methods - faster than a microwave. Chicken, fish, vegetables and more cook to perfection in minutes. Tenderizes leaner cuts of beef and pork. Quick steam release. Stainless steel steamer basket.
Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 8-quart pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional soup pot as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! And it's big enough for home canning, too. (The USDA recommends pressure canning as the only safe method for low-acid foods such as vegetables, meats, and poultry.) This professional-quality stainless steel pressure cooker is a handy addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools.

The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains 75 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even desserts like Petite Pumpkin Custards! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture.

Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this stainless steel pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 8-quart pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter (15-1/2 inches including handles) and 8-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

I cook for a non-profit organization for their fundraisers, and I needed a large pressure cooker. This Presto (8-quart) is ideal.

"Pressure is off cooking" 2010-04-07
By Tom D. Schulte
I had been looking for a pressure cooking for awhile. Many reviews and people I spoke to had various opinions and or concerns about pressure cookers. They are not the pressure cookers of old days. These are safe and will not blow up on you. Granted if caution is not used they will burn you but so will your stove. I purchased this pressure cooker and could not be more pleased. It performs flawlessly and is easy to clean and store away. If you been debating on one I'd recommend this one. It is right size for many cuts of meat and deleivers great results. Just be sure to follow the directions or you'll over cook your meal and it will cook it to a stew.

"Great product." 2010-04-04

I was surprised at how fast my order arrived. It only took a few days. I am quite happy with this product. I have used it several times already and am quite impressed with its ease of use. The only thing that could be improved upon is the trivet. It seemed to be a little hoakie.

"I Like Presto Pressure Cookers" 2010-04-02
By Thomas Marks (Grants, NM)
I recently "rediscovered" pressure cooking as a great way to quickly prepare foods. I dusted off my Mother-in-Laws 1970's vintage aluminum canning pressure cooker (a Presto) and tried it on several foods including dry beans and BBQ chicken. It worked well enough but was a bear to clean after each use. I stayed at my Sister's for a few weeks and talked her into buying the 8qt Presto. It worked great! We prepared many meals and after she got over her initial doubts in using a pressure cooker (to many stories of older pressure cookers exploding), she has become a pressure cooking queen. When I got home, I also purchased this pressure cooker. I'll highlight both the pros and cons of this pressure cooker as I see them: Pros: 1) get the stainless, its by far easier to clean, 2) the pressure weight adjusts to closed for cooking and release pressure open, it is a better design than the older "rocker" style weight, 3) cooks at 15 lbs psi rather than the older 25 lbs psi without sacraficing cooking time, 4) has a good interlock safety device that will not allow the lid to be unlocked without all the pressure released first, and 5), has a good quality finish including strong handles; should last a lifetime. Cons: the only con is sometimes, it's hard to lock the lid in place to create a seal thus allow pressure to build. I think I know what the problem is; as you engage the locking lugs, you need to push down. Not a large problem but when you have food boiling inside, you want to be safe. All in all, I think this is a quality purchase and highly recommend it.

"It's a great product" 2010-03-23
By Eliso (Albany, NY)
Have it for 4 months by now, it's been working very well. Food cooks very fast, and keeps its original taste - unlike microwave. Very good quality and way better than aluminum types. I love cooking with it.

** Keep in mind, don't add more water - assuming it will evaporate; it doesn't. So add just as much as you want to have at the end. **
